In the lead up to the Northern Territory’s biggest annual sporting event, the Tatts Finke Desert Race, The Lott, through Tatts NT, has committed to being the naming rights partner for another two years.

This means Australia’s official lotteries have been part of this prestigious event for 23 years.

Held in June, the Tatts Finke Desert Race is an iconic motorsport event with a reputation for being one of the world’s most difficult and most gruelling off-road courses in a remote location.

During the past two decades, we’ve seen Finke evolve from a local community event to a world-class spectacle that embodies the spirit of the Northern Territory and Australia.

The year 2000 was Tatts’ first year as naming rights sponsor for the event, coinciding with Finke’s 25th year. At that time, there were 305 bike and 105 car competitors, 200 volunteers and approximately 8,000 spectators.

Fast forward to 2022, and the event has almost doubled in size and strength. Last year there were 650 bikes and 165 cars entered to compete, and with this year’s entries already sold out, we can’t wait to see what the numbers look like.
