Forget photo frames and pyjamas, one young Kingaroy woman has unwrapped a birthday surprise to remember – a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket that won one of the top prizes of $10,000.
 
The winning ticket was among a handful of Instant Scratch-Its tickets her friend had bought as her gift from Robinson’s
News & Gifts Kingaroy, Shop 35, Kingaroy Shopping World, Kingaroy.
 
Speaking to a Golden Casket official this week, the woman recalled the delight of becoming $10,000 richer instantly.
 
“I got the ticket for my birthday - my friend gave it me,” she said.  
 
“I didn’t scratch it immediately and I had completely forgot that I had it until I went through my presents again and saw it.


“I started scratching it and I saw one $10,000 and then three $10,000s.  I was like – wait, what’s happening?  I called my friend over and asked them to check it.

 
“I get Instant Scratch-Its from time to time, but I’ve never won anything like that before.
 
“It’s just amazing to think I’ve won one of the top prizes!”
 
The happy winner said she had yet to decide what she would do win her instant windfall.
 
“For the moment I’m just going to save it.  It’s just come at the greatest time ever.”
 
The winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was from Robinson’s News & Gifts Kingaroy, Shop 35, Kingaroy Shopping World, Kingaroy.
 
Robinson’s News & Gifts Kingaroy owner John Robinson said he was thrilled the outlet had sold another top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its.
 
“We’ve sold a few top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its tickets during the past 43 years we’ve been here,” he said.
 
“You never grow tired of someone winning a life changing amount of money and $10,000 is a great leg-up for someone.”
 
Golden Casket is sharing the joy of giving this Christmas. For every $10 25 Day of Christmas ticket sold until 2 December, $1 from Golden Casket unclaimed prize money will go to Starlight’s wish granting program up to $100,000.  
 
Last financial year, there were 144 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12 million.
