A Newtown player has finally discovered their good fortune and come forward to claim their Lucky Lotteries prize more than a month after winning $200,000 in a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw in January.

The inner-city Sydney player won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1209, drawn Thursday 31 January 2019.

However, how the 1st Prize winner plans to spend their unexpected windfall will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

While we might never know how the Newtown player plans to spend their prize or why it took them more than a month to discover their good fortune, we are sure the win brought a smile to their face.

We suggest all of our players register their entries to a Players Card so that if you experience a big win, we can call you the day after the draw to deliver that dream-come-true news.

The winning entry was purchased at King Street Newsagency, Shop 2-3, 503-511 King Street, Newtown.

King Street Newsagency owner Steven Chen said he was relieved to know his customer had finally checked their ticket and discovered their win.

“I’m so glad to hear they’ve come forward more than a month after the draw,” he said.

“I was getting worried thinking maybe they had thrown their ticket away or misplaced it.

“We’ve been asking everyone to check any older tickets they may have in their wallets.  Lots of our customers had been hoping they had the winning entry!”

“Is this for real? Are you sure?” she questioned.

“One hundred and one thousand dollars?! Oh my god, that is wonderful!

“I definitely didn’t think this was the conversation I was going to be having when I answered the phone.

“I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment, but in such a good way.

“This is amazing news and it’s a Friday! What a wonderful way to end the week!

“I never in a million years thought I would win. I always hoped I would, but I can’t actually believe it’s happened.

“This is certainly an extra, extra special Friday! How nice is this?”

When asked how she planned to spend her win, the hardworking mum said she couldn’t wait to start planning a holiday.

“I will celebrate with some friends and have a few drinks tonight,” she shared.

“I want to buy a new car and go on a cruise somewhere tropical and relaxing with my family. That will be amazing!”

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning entry of five consecutive numbers at Toongabbie Newsagency, 46 Aurelia Street, Toonbabbie.

Toongabbie Newsagency owner Bianca Lye said she was thrilled to have sold a 1st Prize to one of her customers.

“We are so excited to have sold a 1st Prize,” she said.

“In the past, we have sold division two and division three winning tickets but this is the first time we have sold a 1st Prize.

“We have been looking forward to this milestone for a long time and can’t wait to make more of our customers' happy winners.

“I am very happy for the customer and hope she enjoys her prize.”
