While many lottery players take an afternoon off to celebrate their life-changing windfall, a hardworking accountant from South Melbourne celebrated his $200,000 win by heading straight into a meeting.

The Victorian player won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1305, drawn Thursday 9 May 2019.

When we spoke to the winner this afternoon to confirm the life-changing news, the happy man confessed he initially thought the notification email was a scam.

“Thank you! That feels really good to hear you confirm the news!” he exclaimed.

“I never thought I’d win this kind of money!

“I didn’t believe it when I saw it in my account. When I received the email, I thought it was a scam.

“It took me a minute to double check and confirm everything. I went online and checked the draw numbers to see if I really had won.

“But I have! It’s really good news!

The regular player confessed to us he often added a Lucky Lotteries ticket when buying another entry.

“I’ve been playing the game since it was introduced and whenever I bought any other lottery ticket I’d always throw a Lucky Lotteries ticket in there too,” he explained.

"I usually buy one every couple of weeks, but I’ve certainly been buying a few more entries once I saw the jackpot amount increase.”

The busy professional shared he discovered the news while on his lunchbreak at work.

“I’m actually eating my lunch at my desk right now but can’t take the afternoon off to celebrate because I’ve got back-to-back appointments,” the dedicated worker confessed.

“I’m actually busy this weekend too so I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to celebrate but we’ll see – hopefully I get a chance to relax!”

When asked how the hardworking man planned to enjoy his Lucky Lotteries windfall, he revealed it would go directly towards paying off his mortgage.

“It will go straight on the home loan!” he declared instantly.

“Very boring, but I can pay it off and then move on.

“I’ll have to tell my wife I’ve won, she probably won’t believe it!”

The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of one random number online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
