A Birmingham Gardens man couldn’t contain his delight this morning after discovering he won $100,000 in the latest Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

The retiree won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10263, drawn on Friday 28 December 2018.

As well as winning the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000, the winner’s entry also scored a consolation prize of $1,000, bolstering his total win to $101,000.

Speaking with us to confirm the news, the happy man couldn’t contain his excitement.

“Oh, wow, really?! Thank you very much,” he exclaimed.

“Isn’t that a lovely late Christmas present?

“This is a wonderful. I am very pleased!

“I had no idea that I had won. This is a complete shock to me!”

Wanting to share the news with his wife straight away, he quickly put the phone on loudspeaker to break the exciting news to her.

“My wife is right here but she doesn’t know we’ve won yet. She’ll have to take it easy when I tell her, she might get too excited,” he said gleefully.

“I want to tell her right now, hang on.

“Guess what love, we’ve won $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries!”

“Wow! That’s just beautiful,” the wife laughed.

“I can’t believe it!

“It’s great news for us.”

When asked how he planned to spend his prize the retired man said he did have some initial ideas.

“I will pay off the mortgage first,” he shared.

“Of course, I will share it with my wife. She will have a few ideas on how to spend it.

“We will need some time to have a little think about it.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of two consecutive numbers at Shortland Newsagency, 322 Sandgate Road, Shortland.

Shortland Newsagency owner Doreen Cummins said she was thrilled her outlet had sold a winning ticket.

“Isn’t that wonderful?,” she said.

“We are over the moon!

“We are a tiny newsagency in a little suburb outside of Newcastle and I only took over ownership 18 months ago!

“For this store, it’s my first big win! I am thrilled for the customer.

“Hopefully it’s the start of some more big wins for the store.”
