We have finally been in touch with Griffith’s newest multi-millionaire, who won over $2 million in last week’s Oz Lotto draw.

The Griffith man held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1294, drawn Tuesday 4 December 2018. The winning entry won a total prize of $2,025,065.83.

Despite the winning entry being registered to a Players Club Card, it took almost a week for us to get in contact with the multi-millionaire.

Confirming his win with us this morning, the man revealed he had only just found out about his major prize win.

“I went into my local newsagency this morning to purchase a few more lottery tickets,” he explained.

“The man started checked my tickets and told me I had a major win!

“I never thought it would be $2 million! I was so surprised!”

The man revealed he’d been playing Oz Lotto for years but had never dreamt of how he’d spend his windfall, should he ever win division one.

“I need to have a good think about how I’ll use my prize,” he said.

“I’ve got a lot of nieces and nephews to share it with.”

The winning entry was purchased at Searls Newsagency, 412-414 Banna Avenue, Griffith.

Searls Newsagency owner Peter Searl said it was great to have some good news around Christmas.

“Some people have been doing it tough around here so it’s lovely to see this prize go to a local customer,” he said.

“It’s been nine years since we’ve sold a division one winning entry, we’re excited to be on a winning streak!”
