An Adelaide Hills retiree has confessed to still being in shock after discovering he was South Australia’s second Oz Lotto division one winner and had been holding the $20 million ticket for more than 36 hours without knowing.

Across Australia, there were only two division one winners in Oz Lotto draw 1239 on Tuesday 14 November – both from South Australia. Each Oz Lotto division one winner takes home a division one prize of $20 million!

While the other winner, a hardworking woman from the Orroroo region, has already claimed her $20 million prize, the shocked man’s ticket was not registered so SA Lotteries had no way to confirm the prize.

Speaking with SA Lotteries officials this morning to finally confirm his win, the retired grandfather said he was still in shock.

“You have to bear with me, we still don’t believe it’s true!” he exclaimed.

“I’m still a bit shocked but it feels very good.

“I was on the way to visit my family and I stopped in to check my ticket at one outlet, and I didn’t believe it so I then checked it again at Collinswood Pharmacy.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw that I had won. I still don’t believe it!”

While the revelation of a $20 million Oz Lotto windfall could leave many sleepless thinking about the life-changing windfall, the Adelaide Hills man admitted he slept soundly.

“It didn’t affect me at all!” he laughed.

“I’m not sure how I will spend all of it, but we have a big family with children and grandchildren and everyone will get some help from this.

“I would love to help them out on their way.”

The generous family man confessed he also had some plans to treat himself with the win too.

“In the future, I’d love to go on a holiday, not overseas, but I’d love to tour Australia and see the rest of the country.

“I’d love that.”

The thrilled man revealed he was a regular player but had never won any big prizes before.

“I haven’t really won anything big before, so I just have the habit of checking the ticket when I put on the next one,” he explained.

“I’ve been playing regularly, maybe once or twice a month for the last fifty years.

“If I win $15 or $20 that’s good, but never expect a big one.

“I’m thinking maybe I should register my tickets now!”

The shocked winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, confessed he wouldn’t be sharing the news widely.

“We aren’t telling anybody, not even the family, because we can’t wait to surprise them with the news.”

“It’s very exciting!”

However the man admitted celebrations for the life-changing windfall would be kept low key.

“I’m not big into drinking or splurging.  I think I’ll just sit back and relax now.”

This is the highest division one prize won in South Australia since 2014 when two people won $15 million in Oz Lotto in two separate draws. The biggest single winning entry in South Australia was in 2012, when a Powerball winner took home $50 million.

The winning 12 game Quickpick entry, sold at Collinswood Pharmacy, 37 North East Road, Collinswood, was not registered to an Easiplay Club card so SA Lotteries has no way to contact them.

Collinswood Pharmacy retail manager Stella Cowie said the outlet was thrilled the winner had been united with his prize.

“It’s been such an exciting few days here for us, and we are so pleased that the winner has come forward to claim their prize!” she said.

“We wish the happy winner a fabulous life ahead of him with this win and that he and his family enjoy it together!”

The two winners from Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw boost the total number of South Australia’s division one winners so far this calendar year to 26.

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1239 on Tuesday 14 November 2017 were 15, 3, 16, 5, 25, 30 and 1.  The supplementary numbers 40 and 12.

Across Australia there were two division one winning entries in Oz Lotto draw 1239 – both from South Australia.
