A Victorian footy fan doesn’t know how Saturday night’s game ended after being distracted by a different type of win – seeing his TattsLotto numbers appear across the bottom of the screen.

The unsuspecting winner held one of the ten division one winning entries across Australia in TattsLotto drawn on 15 September 2018. Each entry won the division one prize of $408,233.51.

When we spoke with the thrilled winner to confirm his win, the Victorian retiree revealed how he discovered and first reacted to his good fortune.

“Gee, they look a lot like my numbers,” he thought before jumping onto the Lott website and realising he was a division one winner and now more than $400,000 richer!

“It was a bit of a shock to the system. You don’t expect it to happen!

“I checked it about a 100 times and then showed my wife.

“We didn’t have anything to celebrate with, so we had a cup of tea.”

He shared the winning news with his kids the following day and explained “They couldn’t believe it either!”

“I used to teach maths until I retired, so I know how it all works – how to work out how many entries are in System tickets.

“It’s funny how it has now come around to deliver a windfall.”

A TattsLotto system 8 ticket allows players to select eight numbers per game, and is equivalent to 28 games.

In addition to his division one prize, the retired maths teacher won 12 division three prizes and 15 division four prizes, bringing his
total win to $420,986.96.

The recent retiree looks forward to fast-tracking a move with his wife to the seaside town of Torquay and to sharing the prize with his beloved family.

“Our kids are at the stage where they’re buying houses – so it’s a good boost for them,” he said.

“The winning numbers were family birthdays, so it seems right to share it with them.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his system 8 entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
