A Bundaberg couple experienced the shock of a lifetime when they discovered they were holding a Gold Lotto ticket worth $2.5 million while looking through unchecked tickets while dining out at Red Rooster.

“Woo-hoo! We’re so frigging excited,” he cheered.

“My wife started to get really excited, and I looked over her shoulder to see what the prize was, and I thought I’d won $42.

“I couldn’t believe it. We went crazy! The guy behind the counter questioned why we were still eating Red Rooster for dinner and not treating ourselves to a nicer meal.”

Mortgage-free dreams come true with million-dollar surprise 

As our Bundaberg winners come to terms with the enormity of their win, a Yarra Junction woman has dared to dream big after landing $1 million in Weekday Windfall. The generous mother immediately thought of her family and shared her plans to pay off her brother’s mortgage. 

“Oh my god! I’m in total shock,” she gasped. 

“I’ve always said if I win big, I’ll pay off my brother's mortgage and now I can! He won’t see this coming! 

“My husband and I have been looking to go on holiday. We might go to Fiji.

“He’s in the background now saying this will help us retire! It sure will.”

Renovation dreams take flight  

Meanwhile in South Australia, a Mitcham mother confessed her million-dollar Weekday Windfall win had come at the perfect time, after she’d turned off her shower earlier in the day and heard a ‘big crack’ – giving her the ideal excuse for some much-needed renovations. 

“I discovered it this morning at 5.10am before I went to work. I received an email about winning a major lottery prize and I went to check it online, and the first line on the ticket came up as a win,” she shared.

“I said to myself, ‘Hmm something is not quite right.’ I passed the ticket to my husband and asked him to check it. Then we discovered we had won; we won a million dollars!

“I went to turn the shower off this morning, and I heard a massive crack. I said to my husband, ‘We have to complete some over-due renovations’ and then we found out about our win!

“We will use some of the prize to fix up the house and then help our kids.”
