How to Play The Pools

What is The Pools?

The Pools is Australia’s only lottery based on the outcome of soccer matches played across Europe and Australia. Can’t tell a goalie from a striker? Don’t worry, you can play The Pools like a regular lottery game.

The 6 highest scoring drawn soccer matches determine the 6 winning numbers, and the 7th highest drawn game becomes the supplementary number.

Choose 6 numbers from 38 by random selection or use your soccer knowledge and choose your numbers from the Match Lists, available here.

How do I win The Pools?

To win The Pools you don’t need to be a soccer expert!

The Pools offers a Division 1 prize pool starting at an estimated $60,000 and has jackpotted to over $1 Million in the past!

Winning numbers are determined by the highest scoring drawn soccer matches. In total there are 5 prize divisions. You could win a prize with as little as 3 winning numbers plus 1 supplementary number in a game but to win the jackpot (Division 1) your entry needs to match all 6 winning numbers in a single game.

If there are no Division 1 prize winners, the prize pool jackpots to the next draw.

See our How to Win section for more information on how you can increase your chance of winning.

Match results are ranked as follows:

  • Ranking 1 – Drawn matches (with goals scored)
  • Ranking 2 – Nil-all draws
  • Ranking 3 – Away side wins
  • Ranking 4 – Home side wins

Please note, if 2 or more matches are ranked equally, the match with the higher Match List number ranks higher.

See our How to Win section for more information on how you can increase your chance of winning.

When does The Pools draw close?

The Pools draw closes on Saturday at 2.30pm AEST during the Australian Soccer season and 7.30pm AEST during the European Soccer season. The winning numbers and prize dividends are usually available online the following Monday from 12pm AEST.
