Disability worker’s pawsome win for Guide Dogs

With the help of some clever four-legged friends, Guide Dogs Queensland equips people with low or no vision to live life to the fullest.

In December 2020, one Ourimbah woman cried tears of joy when she discovered the ticket she’d bought in support of the organisation had won her the 1st Prize pack.

"One of my friends told me about Play For Purpose, and I just thought it was awesome that you could win a prize and support a charity of your choice," she explained.

"I am a long time supporter of Guide Dogs Queensland, and I will continue to support them – I really love them! I work in the disability services, so I think Guide Dogs is amazing!”
Lots of love from Red Hill mum supporting Love Your Sister

Samuel Johnson’s cancer charity, Love Your Sister has touched the hearts of many Australians. Equal parts inspiring and empowering, the charity has raised over $850,000 through Play For Purpose tickets. Over 11,000 Love Your Sister “Villagers” have been raffle winners, including a Red Hill mum who scored the major raffle prize in September 2021.

“I really, really love Love Your Sister. I’ve followed Samuel and Connie’s story from the beginning, and it really touches my heart. Ever since then, I have always supported Love Your Sister.

“Watching their journey was incredibly emotional, especially because I am a big family person.

“I also really love buying tickets into Play For Purpose because 50% goes to the charity, so it makes me feel like I am doing something good for the community.”

Giving grandad shines a light on Starlight Children’s Foundation

One of the most recent raffle winners was a Kellyville grandad who had his family and grandkids in mind when he purchased his 1st Prize winning ticket in support of Starlight.

“I always buy tickets to support Starlight. I really love all the amazing work they do. I’ve got lots of grandkids and I would absolutely hate to see them in that position,” he said.

“Starlight do so much for these families, and I think their work is so important.

“I buy tickets into Play For Purpose purely for the charity. I don’t care if I don’t win, but geez, it’s a nice surprise!”
Winning teacher praises Autism Queensland

One Sunshine Coast teacher was just about to head to work when we called with the news of her Play For Purpose win.

“This is just the most amazing thing. I am just so glad Autism Queensland will receive a $5,000 bonus payment too,” she shared.

“I actually work in the education department, which is why I chose to support Autism Queensland. I see how autism can impact these kids and the work Autism Queensland does is just incredible.

“It’s invaluable! They are just so amazing and I couldn’t be happier that they receive something from my win as well.”

Mother of six shares personal story of hope with Children’s Hospital Foundation

A Forest Lake mum couldn’t stop screaming when she received the news she’d won the 1st Prize worth $250,000 after she supported a cause close to her heart.

“I chose to buy the ticket as you never know when you may need the Children’s Hospital Foundation services, and how much new equipment and research is needed to help just one single child in need,” she said.

“We have a two-year-old daughter, Liberty, who has heart issues and other health complications. Donations mean so much to a family with a sick child so they can get the support they need.

“This prize has been truly life-changing for our whole family and has thrust us on a very positive track forward.

“It's so hard to explain all the emotions that we're going on all at once when we got that winning call. Excited, ecstatically happy, emotional, sad, relieved, overwhelmed. I couldn't get the smile off my face all day!”
