As we go about our day, 55 people across the country will learn the heartbreaking news they've been diagnosed with breast cancer.

It's the most common cancer affecting Australian women, and it's likely you know someone who has fought the disease and have a personal story to tell.

When an Aussie is diagnosed with breast cancer, the team at the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) immediately step in to help.

For the past 22 years, the organisation has worked tirelessly to ensure no one goes through their fight alone.

BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti said the organisation’s mission was to guarantee that all Australians affected by breast cancer received the very best care, treatment, and support.

“Since 1998, we’ve assisted tens of thousands of people, reaching more than 70% of Australians who have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer,” she said.

“This year, BCNA has responded swiftly and thoughtfully to the coronavirus pandemic; never losing sight of the needs of those who are living with a breast cancer diagnosis.

“In response to increased demand, we have opened our Helpline for longer, created a range of content including coronavirus advice based on diagnosis type and recorded podcasts to keep our members up to date.

“Nothing is more important to us than supporting those living with breast cancer through this challenging time.

“We’re also dedicated to working with governments and health service providers to ensure affordable access to the latest breast cancer treatment and care is possible for all Australians.”
