Tatts Finke Desert Race gears up for another year thanks to The Lott by Tatts NT
The countdown is on to Australia’s ultimate desert race and one of the biggest sporting events in the Northern Territory - the Tatts Finke Desert Race.
It’s a two-day off-road, multi-terrain race that sees motorbikes, quad bikes, cars and buggies race 226 kilometres from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community and back again.
The unique race has the reputation of being one of the most gruelling and challenging off-road courses in a remote location in the world.
It started in 1976 as a ‘there and back’ challenge for local motorbike riders who raced from Alice Springs to the Finke River and back.
But after the success of this first race, the Tatts Finke Desert Race became an annual event celebrated worldwide.
For the 24th year in a row, The Lott by Tatts NT has announced it will be the naming rights sponsor.
The Lott by Tatts NT partnership manager Ally Ramsamy said she was proud to continue to support such an iconic outback event.
“It’s so important for us to support the communities we operate in, which is why we have been involved in theTatts Finke Desert race for more than two decades!” she said.
“We know the Tatts Finke Desert Race is more than just a race – it’s the heartbeat of the Alice Springs community.
“The event unites hundreds of off-road racers and thousands of sporting enthusiasts from all over the world, contributing millions of dollars to the Alice Springs economy.”
Tatts Finke Desert Race President Antony Yoffa said the event wouldn’t be a success without the support of The Lott by Tatts NT.
“I can’t speak highly enough of a corporate sponsor who has financially supported a community event continuously for more than two decades,” he said.
“In that time, the Tatts Finke Desert Race has evolved from being a predominantly local event to one of national standing.
“We are Australia’s Ultimate Desert Race and are proud to still be partnered with the Lott by Tatts.”
The Tatts Finke Desert Race will take place from Friday 9 June to Monday 12 June. Find out more here.
