Perseverance pays off for Newcastle mates after decades-long tradition delivers $100,000 windfall
Two Newcastle mates struck gold this weekend, discovering their decades-long Lucky Lotteries tradition had led them to a $100,000 win.
The New South Wales residents held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10899, drawn Friday 6 December 2024 and look forward to a total prize of $100,000.
When we confirmed the duo’s prize this morning, one of the cheerful winners shared that he decided to check his ticket after reading a story about a mystery winner in the local paper on Saturday.
“I’m feeling pretty good today!” one of the winning men chuckled.
“It’s been a weekend full of celebrations.
“It started Saturday when I was reading the paper and read an article about a local mystery Lucky Lotteries winner.
“The article reminded me that I had a few tickets in my wallet that I hadn’t checked. Lo and behold, I was the mystery ticketholder!
“My best mate and I have been sharing tickets for the last 40 years, so I immediately went over to his house to tell him the incredible news.
“At first, he thought I was pulling his leg and wouldn’t believe me.
“Then I came home and shared the news with my wife, and she also didn’t believe me.
“We all feel very lucky to experience a win like this and make some of our dreams come true. Thank you for the call!”
Their winning entry was purchased at newsXpress Jewells, Shops 20-21, Jewellstown Plaza, 75 Ntaba Road, Jewells.
newsXpress Jewells owner James Cairns said he was over the moon to hear his outlet had sold a 1st Prize winning entry worth $100,000.
“It’s very exciting to hear we’ve been a part of someone’s major lottery win,” he shared.
“We’ve sold a number of 1st Prize and division one wins over the years, and each one is just as thrilling.
“We wish our winner a Merry Christmas, and all the best with their prize!”
