A Drysdale couple is looking forward to “taking the pedal off the metal” and enjoying life more after scoring division one in last night’s Set for Life draw.

The Bellarine Peninsula duo held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 3434 on Monday 30 December 2024. They can look forward to a prize of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

“Wow! We’re still looking at each other thinking, ‘this doesn’t happen to people like us!’,” the winning woman shared.

“We’ve had no sleep. My husband checked the ticket as we were about to head to bed last night.

“We don’t always buy a Set for Life ticket – maybe once or twice a month. And I usually check it in the morning.

“So my husband checked it, and he said, ‘darl, darl, darl… I think we’ve won!’.

“I told him to put his glasses on, but then we read the numbers out, and they were all there.

“What a kick-off to the New Year!

“The mortgage will be squared away, and we’ll be able to take the pedal off the metal a bit.

“We both love our work and will continue to work, but we can just take a bit more time to enjoy life.”

The couple’s winning ticket was purchased at Drysdale Newsagency, 12-14 High Street, Drysdale.

Drysdale Newsagency owners Sashi and Ravi Sunnam said they were thrilled to have sold their third division one winning ticket.

“It’s an incredible moment knowing that we’ve played a part in changing someone’s life for the better. Moments like these make the work we do even more rewarding,” Sashi said.

“I think our customers will be absolutely thrilled to hear the news! Many of them will feel excited and inspired knowing that someone from their own community won such a life-changing prize.

“To the winner, I’d like to send my heartfelt congratulations! This is such a life-changing moment, and I hope it brings you immense joy, security, and opportunities to achieve your dreams. Wishing you all the best as you embark on this exciting new chapter of your life!”
