“Shut up! I think we’ve won division one!”: Wollongong woman’s favourite numbers take the gong in Set for Life
A Wollongong woman has struggled to grasp the fact her life has completely changed for the next two decades after she scored $20,000 a month for the next twenty years in Set for Life.
The coastal New South Wales resident held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2709, drawn Thursday, 5 January 2023.
She takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
Sharing her euphoria with us, the merry mother said she was still in a state of shock after making the exciting discovery this morning.
“I’m shaking! I’m fully shaking!” she laughed.
“I was having breakfast with my husband at the holiday house we’re staying at, and I stopped my husband in his tracks when I said, ‘Shut up! Shut up! I think we’ve won division one in Set for Life!’.
“We’ve been trying to come to terms with the insane news ever since. I’ve never won anything in my life, so winning this this is absolutely amazing!
“Coincidentally enough, my husband told me the other week to stop buying tickets in Set for Life, and now I can turn to him and say, ‘I told you so!’.
“Even when you rang the first time, I wasn’t too sure who it was and he told me, ‘You better answer that phone. It could be someone from The Lott!’.
“It’s bittersweet winning division one win with numbers that also mean a lot to us. I’ve always marked my ticket with my own lottery numbers that are birthdates and anniversaries.
“I never thought this would happen to us. It feels like a prank or a dream, so it’s hard to know what the money will go to right now, but I’m sure it will go to good use.
“Thank you so much!”
Her winning marked three game entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
