“Is this true?”: Plympton Park father scores $100,000 on bonus Lucky Lotteries ticket
After waiting almost 40 years to win a major lottery prize, a Plympton Park father this morning received a phone call confirming he’s now $100,000 richer from today’s Lucky Lotteries draw.
The Western Adelaide player won the 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10488, drawn Monday 6 September 2021, from a free ticket he received when buying another.
As well as winning the 1st Prize, the winning South Australian also won a consolation prize of $1,000.
Straight after the draw, we called the jubilant man, who was left dumbfounded by the thrilling news.
“Oh my! Is this true? I won $101,000?” he cried.
“I have to check for myself. I need to see that I’ve won!
“This is fantastic news. I can’t believe I’ve won on a free ticket as well!
“I’ve been purchasing an entry into Saturday X Lotto for nearly 40 years. I’ve been waiting for a win all this time.
“What a fantastic way to start the week. I’m very happy.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the cheerful winner said he plans to make a trip to Italy to see his family as soon as he could.
“Although Australia is my home, I miss Italy. I’ve been living in Australia for over 40 years,” he shared.
“I would like to see my family once the international borders open. For now, I will send them some presents with the prize.
“Thank you very much.”
The winning entry of two consecutive numbers was fromt Park Holme Newsagency, Shop 13, Park Holme Shopping Centre, 319 Oaklands Road, Park Holme.
Park Holme Newsagency owner Thi Hong Phuong Hau said the whole team were happy for the winner.
“We’re ecstatic. When we first saw that we’d sold a major lottery prize, we all got excited,” she revealed.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve sold a 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries. Our last win was in 2018. Four years ago!
“I hope it’s the start to a winning streak. A big congratulations to the winner.”
