Wonders never cease: Nine Telethon raises over $11 million for sick kids in Queensland
It promised to be a feel-good afternoon and the 2020 Nine Telethon delivered!
Across three jam-packed hours of live television, Queensland was treated to star-studded entertainment and heart-warming stories from Aussie families.
The goal was to raise vital funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation and its amazing work providing support services, healthcare equipment, and world-class medical research for sick children.
The Queensland community rallied to the cause and the event raised more than $11.1 million.
This is the seventh year of the Nine Telethon and our seventh consecutive year as a proud broadcast partner. It was a joy to return for 2020 with The Lott by Golden Casket donating $1.6 million to support sick kids.
One of those kids is nine-year-old Aiden. In 2015, Aiden contracted a rare bronchial infection that left him hospital-bound due to a collapsed lung.
While thankfully he has made great strides in his recovery, little is known about what caused the infection.
Aiden is a fighter and is now a participant in a research project funded by Golden Casket, which will help improve treatments for paediatric respiratory diseases.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation truly works wonders for sick kids. The Nine Telethon will help the Foundation continue its incredible work and ensure those wonders never cease.
