Sleepy surprises! Mount Gravatt man’s $890,000 Gold Lotto win rouses wife up in a frenzy

The Brisbanite held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4517, drawn Saturday 2 November 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $894,879.56.
The jubilant husband shared that he had stared at the ticket in disbelief on Saturday night, wondering if his newfound fortune was all a wild dream.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he laughed.
“It was late on Saturday night and I decided to check my Gold Lotto ticket. I immediately thought it was some sort of mistake.
“My better half was asleep, and I kept thinking, ‘Do I wake her up? Do I tell her?’.
“Eventually, I woke her up, and I said to her, ‘I need to tell you something, but you’ve got to sit upright!’. I’m sure I gave her a bit of a fright.
“I’ve been playing these numbers for about a year now. I treat myself to a $10 ticket every Saturday, and game one consists of birthdates and other random numbers.”
The Queenslander declared his first priority would be to help his children, followed by saving for retirement and planning unforgettable overseas adventures.
“The first thought that came to mind was helping our children!” he shared.
“I’m retired, and my wife is about to retire, so this will help our retirement fund tremendously.
“We’ve got a few house renovations to complete and some overseas travel. We’d love to start off with the Mediterranean countries.
“We’ve travelled a bit in the last few years but there’s still lots to see.
“Thank you so much for this call. You have the best job in the world!”
His winning 12-game marked entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
