Gardening bliss turns to gold: Mooloolah retirees rejoice over $500,000 Gold Lotto win
A Mooloolah woman’s tranquil morning in the garden blossomed into excitement after she received a phone call about her $500,000 Saturday Gold Lotto win in the weekend’s draw.
The Sunshine Coast local held one of the 10 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4507, drawn Saturday 28 September 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $518,364.63.
The doting grandmother had no idea about her newfound fortune until we called her this morning, admitting the winning news left her feeling startled but on ‘cloud nine’.
“Is this fair dinkum?” she questioned.
“Oh my god! Is this for real?
“I haven’t checked my tickets for this week. I can’t believe it!
“What were the winning numbers? I feel numb, but on cloud nine.
“My husband has come over and now he’s here beside me. What a surprise for the both of us!
“I was doing some gardening when you called, but now if I continue to garden, I’ll probably wreck the plants!
“We will have to use the rest of the day as a breather; think about it all. I don’t know how to feel!
“We will let our children know and talk to them about what we will do with the prize.
“Thank you very much.”
Her winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at Mooloolah Newsagency, Shop 2, 1 Jones St, Mooloolah.
Mooloolah Newsagency owner Natalie Lelievre said her team was so excited to have sold their first division one winning entry, especially to a local customer.
“We’re so shocked! This has been a long time coming and we’ve been trying our hardest to sell a division one winning entry, and we’re just so grateful that it’s gone to a local customer,” she said.
“We’ve started to decorate our store with beautiful balloons and our entire team has grinning from ear to ear as we’re finally apart of the division one winning outlet crew.
“We’re sending lots of love and warm wishes to our lovely winning customer. She actually called us first thing this morning and let us know she was our winner.
“I still can’t stop smiling. Such a beautiful lady and so deserving of the winning ticket!”
