A Coomera dad is excited to dive into renovations on his new house after an unbelievable $1.2 million win in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw. 
 
The Gold Coast resident held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4505, drawn Saturday 21 September 2024, and looks forward to a total prize of $1,293,805.48.
 
The cheerful man shared that discovering his newfound millionaire status early Sunday morning felt 'surreal', and has been on his mind ever since.
 
“Wow! Wow!” he gasped.

“It’s funny, when I first received an email from The Lott on the weekend saying I had won a major prize, I didn’t think much of it. 

“I went into my online account and saw that my balance was $4, and I thought, hmm, that doesn’t seem right.
 
“Then I remembered the ticket I purchased in-store at the IGA in Helensvale, and I went to check that immediately.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw I’d won $1.2 million. It’s so surreal.

“I treat myself to a Gold Lotto ticket every week, and I change my numbers every time.

“I guess these are now my special numbers!

“I haven’t told my kids yet. I’ve asked them to come over for dinner, but I won’t tell them until then!”
 
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall of $1.2 million, the Queenslander shared he plans to help his kids out, pay off the mortgage, and jump into house renovations.

“We’ve recently downsized, and the house needs some renovations,” he said.
 
“It’s so great because it will really take a chunk out of our new house mortgage too. Such perfect timing.

“We’ve got kids, and we’ll be looking to help them too.

“We can’t believe it. Thank you. I visited the newsagency owner on the weekend and gave her a big hug. She immediately got goosebumps. It’s so great.”
 
His winning 25-game QuickPick was purchased at IGA Monterey Keys, Shop 1, 175 Monterey Keys Drive, Helensvale.
 
IGA Monterey Keys manager Yinchun Lin said she was absolutely thrilled when she heard her outlet had sold their first division one winning entry.
