A hard-working farmer from Mackay is ploughing ahead with a $660,000 Gold Lotto win, giving his family a well-deserved boost to their future and bringing a whole new meaning to ‘harvest season’.

The North Queenslander held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4503, drawn Saturday, 14 September 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $660,110.33.

The seasonal player took a little longer to discover his bountiful bounty as he was out and about on the farm tending to his crops.

“Bloody hell! It’s unbelievable!” he laughed.

“Oh dear, I’m in shock – it’s absolutely unbelievable.

“It might take some time to process the win. We’re struggling farmers and really need this positive news. It will help our family so much.

“This year has been our hardest year on the farm. There’s been so much drought.

“I didn’t even know about the win because I was running around, and we have no service where we live so I couldn’t check my ticket.

“When I received a text urging me to check my Saturday Gold Lotto ticket, I thought, ‘That’s got to be a scam!’. I still phoned my wife when the reception on my phone came back, and I asked her to check the ticket.

“We couldn’t believe it; we were dumbfounded by it all.

“I never in a million years thought I’d win division one.

“The funny thing is, I only started to register my tickets about 12 months ago. I never check my tickets and lose them all the time.

“I think I might need a celebratory drink!”

His winning 25-game QuickPick was purchased at Slade Point Mackay, Shop 1, 5 Finch Street, Slade Point.
