Cosmic coincidence! Gympie woman turns star sign advice into $1.2 million Gold Lotto triumph
A Gympie woman took the leap and purchased a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket after her mum insisted her star sign was in a ‘lucky season’ and now she’s laughing all the way to the bank with an astronomical $1.2 million win.
The Queenslander held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4513, drawn 19 October 2024 and looks forward to $1,264,652.43.
The cheery mum was completely oblivious to becoming a newly-minted millionaire until she received a winning phone call from a lottery official earlier this morning.
“Get f*****! I have tears in my eyes!” she laughed.
“I had no idea! I can’t believe it. I don’t know how to process this.
“My mum is really into star signs, and she told me that I should purchase a lottery ticket because it’s in a lucky period. I don’t purchase tickets regularly; this is a one-off.
“I was actually at my parents’ house last night for dinner, and I had just come back from some time off, and I said to them, ‘Oh, I guess I haven’t won anything on Lotto, so I’m going back to work’.
“I always talk about how good it would be to win division one with my parents, but we never think about it coming true.
“This is insane. I’m in shock.
“I am at work today, and I think I’m going to struggle to concentrate! I called my partner before and told him the news and there was a lot of swearing. He kept saying, ‘Are you for real? Is this legit?’.
The thrilled woman, buzzing with excitement, admitted she had no trouble coming up with plans for her prize, which included an overseas trip with her little one.
“I’ve always wanted to take my little one to Iceland for Christmas to see the Northern Lights and visit Santa. I think he would lose his little mind!”
Her winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4513 on 19 October 2024 were 26, 15, 33, 43, 22 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 11.
