North Strathfield man revs up a surprise: $2.5 million Saturday Lotto win fuels brand-new car for parents
A North Strathfield man, brimming with excitement, headed out today to buy his parents a brand-new car after coming forward to claim his exhilarating $2.5 million win in a recent Saturday Lotto draw.
The New South Welshman held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4499, drawn Saturday 31 August 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $2.5 million.
The winning entry was unregistered which means we had no way of contacting the ticketholder and had to wait for them to check their ticket and come forward to claim their prize.
“It’s a bit surreal,” he laughed.
“I’m still in shock. Last week was pretty interesting.
“I had no idea about the win. It was a really good story actually.
“I walked past the newsagency one day and I decided to randomly pop in and buy myself a ticket because I had some spare time on my hands.
“Three days after I purchased the ticket, I was in another suburb, and I decided to check the ticket.
“The team member said to me, ‘Something’s come up on my terminal and I think you need to take it to the head office’.
“I started to panic, and I was so confused. I wasted no time and went straight there.
“Then when I got there, bang! They told me I won $2.5 million! I couldn’t believe the news.
“I haven’t told anyone but it’s always on my mind. I can’t stop thinking about it.
“I think ultimately, I’ll start to form a plan of who I’ll tell.
“I’m actually out right now purchasing a brand-new car for my parents. They’ve been wanting a new car for a while, and I’ve always wanted to buy them one.
“It will be such a good surprise.”
His winning entry was purchased at North Strathfield Newsagency, 189 Concord Road, North Strathfield.
North Strathfield Newsagency owner Rui Chen said he was so excited to hear his mystery division one winner has now discovered their newfound fortune.
“We’re really happy to hear our winner has checked their ticket and now come forward to claim their prize. We were so happy when we first heard we had sold a division one winning ticket,” he said.
“We’ve been decorating the store with division one posters and informing all of our customers that we’ve sold a division one winning ticket worth $2.5 million.
“Our customers have been congratulating us and expressing their hope of winning division one in our store next time.
“Congratulations to our winner and we wish him a relaxed and joyful life after receiving the win. We can’t wait to continue to bring good luck to our customers after this winning streak.”
