Altona Meadows man has friend to thank for $200,000 winning discovery
A young Altona Meadows man has confessed he has his good friend to thank for discovering that he is now $200,000 richer from scoring 1st Prize in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.
The Melbourne player won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1400, drawn Thursday 25 July 2019.
Sharing his joy with us this morning, the happy winner recounted how he discovered the life-altering news.
“It was quite funny really. We were at home with a few friends and we were in the kitchen cooking dinner when my friend saw the ticket sitting on my fridge door,” he explained.
“He joked around and said ‘I’ll check this for you’ and when he scanned it he screwed up his face as he looked at it and when he looked over at me his face was white.
“He said ‘you’ve won!’. I didn’t believe him for about 15 minutes until I finally checked it myself.
“The funniest part was I had walked past the Tatts outlet that sold me the ticket just that day and saw that they had sold a winning ticket.
“I thought to myself at the time ‘What a lucky guy’. Turns out I am that lucky guy!
“I definitely have my friend to thank. The ticket would probably still be sitting on the fridge and I’d be none the wiser if it wasn’t for him!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his Lucky Lotteries windfall the overjoyed winner revealed he had a few plans on the horizon.
“We’ll put most of it on the mortgage but we don’t want to be too boring,” he laughed.
“We’ll probably splurge on a new car and then book a holiday so we have something to remember this winning feeling by.
“We weren’t sure where we’ll go but then we remembered the ticket was sitting underneath a magnet from Prague. We have never been so we think it is a sign that we should go there as part of a big Europe trip!”
The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of one random number at Get the News Williamstown, Shop 8, 71-79 Kororoit Creek Road, Williamstown.
Get the News Williamstown owner Ron Rangan said he was thrilled one of his customers had scored such a great prize.
“We were so happy to hear one of our customers walked away $200,000 richer!” he exclaimed.
“He is a regular to the store and it was so great for him to come in and let us know he’d won.
“The funny thing is, it’s the first time he’d played that game. He comes in and plays other games and one day he asked me about Lucky Lotteries.
“I told him ‘it’s just like a raffle, give it a go’.
“I guess he was in the right place at the right time to get that right ticket.
“We are absolutely thrilled for the bloke!”
