In case you missed it: Springfield woman who only buys lottery tickets once a year wins $2.14 million
Whether you’re a regular player or an occasional dreamer, this week’s winners reminded us of the endless possibilities that come with an unexpected lottery win. From a Charlestown woman dreaming of savoring life’s simple pleasures, to a Sans Souci woman overjoyed to pay off her entire mortgage, our winners are turning both their small and big dreams into reality.
Check out some of the winning moments from the week:
Annual ticket leads Springfield woman to multi-million-dollar win
Seven days after the draw, Springfield’s mystery multi-millionaire was finally revealed when a local woman checked her Saturday Gold Lotto ticket and uncovered her $2.14 million win. Remarkably, the cheery winner revealed she only ever purchased lottery tickets once a year, around Christmas time.
“Oh wow! I’m in a lot of shock,” she laughed.
“I only buy a lottery ticket around Christmas, literally once a year!
“It’s crazy to think I’ve won $2 million.
“It’s a little boring, but we’ll do some adult things like pay off the bills. I’m sure we’ll go on a holiday with some of it.”
Four Sydneysiders cheers to a winning weekend
Meanwhile, four division one wins landed in Sydney over the weekend, giving four locals half-a-million reasons to smile. Here’s what a couple of them shared with us:
A Parramatta man told us he’d slept with one eye open after checking his winning ticket before bed and realising he’d pocketed more than $588,000.
“Am I dreaming?! This is the best phone call I’ve ever received!” he said.
“I checked my ticket on Saturday night, but I’ve been waiting for you to call and confirm it’s really true.
“After that, I slept with one eye open. I still feel like I’m in a dream and someone needs to wake me.
“I can’t put into words all the emotions I have right now. I feel shocked, thankful, proud, lucky and just amazing! It’s a miracle!”
And a Sans Souci woman started the week with a spring in her step after realising she can now pay off her entire mortgage.
“Oh my god. I don’t even know what to say,” she said.
“I checked my ticket before bed on Saturday night and I was in complete shock. I just stayed up waiting to calm down.
“First thing, I plan to do is pay off my mortgage. It’s insane, I can’t believe I can say that.”
The other wins landed in Merrylands and Randwick with these winners also enjoying more than $588,000 each.
Charlestown woman ready to live life to the fullest with Lucky Lotteries win
The wins continued in New South Wales with a Charlestown woman who was sitting at home with her two dogs when she received the life-enhancing phone call from us, revealing her $100,000 Lucky Lotteries win. Overwhelmed with joy, the stunned winner couldn’t wait to call her husband and share the news with him.
“I can’t hold back the tears. This means so much,” she cried.
“I’ve got to ring my husband and tell him the news.
“We’re going to do all the little things now. Go out for dinner, the movies and even coffee.
“All the little things we use to sacrifice, we’ll start to do more. I guess you could say we’ll live life to the fullest.”
As the new year unfolds, we’re excited to ring in more wins that could turn Aussies’ biggest dreams—and their smallest wishes—into reality! Make sure to grab your entries in store at a friendly retailer, online or via The Lott app to be in with the chance to win. Good luck everybody!
