The numbers around mental health speak volumes: one in five people will experience a mental illness each year, and every 40 seconds, someone in the world takes their own life. However, we don’t have to let these statistics have the final say.

LIVIN is a not-for-profit organisation on a mission to break the silence around mental health and spark national conversations by encouraging all Australians to speak up.

Through early education and awareness programs, LIVIN promotes preventative action and mental well-being for all, spreading the message that “It Ain’t Weak to Speak.”

The organisation was founded in 2013 in memory of Dwayne Lally. Dwayne was much- loved by his friends and family, but like many people, lived in silence because of the stigma that surrounds mental health. Dwayne sadly took his own life, but that unimaginable loss sparked a movement.

LIVIN is an organisation that dreams of a future where suicide is no longer the number-one killer of young Australians, and we’re proud to back them with a $100,000 donation from The Lott by Golden Casket.

The Lott Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said this donation will support LIVIN as they continue to challenge the status quo and break down barriers for young Aussies.

“LIVIN has grown into a formidable and much-needed force in Australia’s mental health landscape,” she said.

“Young people don’t just need support and resources; they need a culture where it’s normal and accepted to seek help.

“This $100,000 donation will help LIVIN directly deliver that message to thousands of Australians through their education and awareness initiatives.”

LIVIN Co-founder Casey Lyons said the support and belief in the LIVIN message is what helps make their work possible.

“It’s thanks to the generosity from the community and other organisations that we can do what we do,” he said.

“The donation from The Lott allows us to continue our mission to create a future where suicide is no longer the leading cause of death in young Australians.

“We’re grateful to everyone who’s helped spread our message that It Ain’t Weak to Speak.”
