The countdown is on to Australia’s ultimate desert race and one of the biggest sporting events in the Northern Territory - the Tatts Finke Desert Race.

This two-day off-road, multi-terrain race features motorbikes, quad bikes, cars, and buggies racing 226 kilometres from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community and back again.

Renowned for being one of the most gruelling and challenging off-road courses in the world, the race started in 1976 as a ‘there and back’ challenge for local motorbike riders who raced from Alice Springs to the Finke River and back.

Following the success of that inaugural race, the Tatts Finke Desert Race has become an annual event celebrated worldwide.

This year marks the 25th consecutive year that The Lott by Tatts NT will be the naming rights sponsor.

The Lott by Tatts NT partnership manager Liz McPherson expressed her pride in continuing to support such an iconic outback event.

Supporting the communities in which we operate is incredibly important to us and it’s why we've continued our support of the Tatts Finke Desert Race for over two decades," she said.

"The Tatts Finke Desert Race is more than just a race – it’s the heartbeat of the Alice Springs community. This event brings together hundreds of off-road racers and thousands of sporting enthusiasts from around the world, injecting millions of dollars into the Alice Springs economy.”

Tatts Finke Desert Race President Antony Yoffa highlighted the crucial role of The Lott by Tatts NT in the event’s success.

“When I joined the committee in 2000, the Lott by Tatts NT was in its first year of sponsoring our great event” he said.

“Twenty five years later, the relationship is an enduring one. From my perspective, Australia’s ultimate desert race is richer for the genuine partnership.”

The Tatts Finke Desert Race will take place from Friday 7 June to Monday 10 June. Find out more here.
