Nowra woman celebrates $100,000 win by drinking champagne in her pyjamas
After discovering she won $100,000 in a Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw, a Nowra woman invited her best friend over so they could stay up all night, drink champagne, and plan what to do with her prize.
The player from the South Coast region won the 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10395, drawn Tuesday 21 July 2020.
The ticket was unregistered, so we had no way of contacting the winner to break the news and had to wait for her to come forward to claim her prize.
Speaking with us this morning, the exultant woman relayed how the excitement unfolded.
“I am very excited! Very happy indeed!” she giggled.
“Thank you so much!
“Yesterday I heard on the radio they were looking for a winner from Sturgiss Newsagency and I thought ‘Oh my gosh, that could be me!’.
“I almost left work to go get my ticket, but I didn’t.
“Then when I got home last night I checked my ticket online, and it said mine was the winner.
“I almost vomited! I thought ‘No it can’t be!’.
“So I called my friend and asked her to check it for me and she said it was true!
“She said to me ‘Hang on, I’m getting us some champagne and coming over’.
“Within half an hour she was there. It was the longest half an hour I’ve ever experienced.
“We sat up all night in our pyjamas drinking champagne.
“We kept saying ‘Oh my god, oh my god!’.
“Honestly I have felt sick all morning waiting to have it confirmed. I am so glad it has been confirmed because now the butterflies are gone!
“I didn’t go to work today! I just couldn’t. I needed to call you guys and have it confirmed.”
When asked how she intended to enjoy her unexpected windfall, the joyful winner said she hadn’t slept a wink, and instead had spent the night making plans.
“I am a bit limited to what I can do, but once the money is in my account I am going to go out for dinner with my friends and have some more champagne,” she shared.
“I already know exactly what I am going to do with my prize too!
“I am going to get myself a van and travel around Australia. I just want to drive anywhere I want and be able to pull up to a riverbank, cast a line and read a good book.”
The winning entry was purchased at Sturgiss Newsagency, 110-112 Junction Street, Nowra.
Sturgiss Newsagency employee Jesse Kelly said the team couldn’t be happier for their local winner.
“We are over the moon!” she said.
“It’s great that it’s been claimed.
“We wish her all the best with her prize. What a great win, $100,000!
“I can only imagine how excited she would’ve been discovering she was the winner.
“There’s certainly been a buzz in the store with customers coming in and checking their Lucky Lotteries tickets, hoping they’re the winner.
“Hopefully we can deliver more major prize wins to our customers soon.”
