Gold Coast war veteran overwhelmed with emotion after $200,000 Lucky Lotteries discovery
An emotional Gold Coast war veteran is excited to donate to his favourite charity, Mates4Mates after discovering he won $200,000 in yesterday’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.
The Queensland player took home the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1427, drawn Thursday 15 August 2019.
Speaking with us this morning to confirm his prize, the emotional man admitted his win had come at the perfect time.
“Thank you so much,” he cried happily.
“I am elated and pretty emotional at the moment.
“I found out last night. I went into my local outlet and the lady there told me.
“My jaw just dropped.
“I was crying, she was crying, we were both very emotional.
“I told my family and some friends and they were so happy for me.
“It’s come at the most perfect time.
“It’s a big relief and means so much to me.
“I just really want to say thank you so much. This really means the world to me.”
The happy winner plans to donate some of his prize to his favourite charity, Mates4Mates, an organisation that supports current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families.
“I am a veteran, so the first thing I want to do is donate to Mates4Mates,” he explained.
“There’s a lot of soldiers out there doing it tough, so I really want to help in whatever way I can.
“I am also going to put some on my mortgage and pay off some bills.
“I am definitely going to celebrate tonight. Honestly, I will probably just take my dog for a long walk and then go out for a nice meal. That’s the perfect night for me.”
The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of two random numbers at Paradise Point News, Shop 1, 11 Grice Avenue, Paradise Point. Paradise Point News owner Patrick Walsh said he was thrilled to have sold a winning 1st Prize entry to such a deserving customer.
“We are very excited! This is the first major prize we have sold since we took over the shop,” he said.
“I am thrilled for the winner and wish him all the best with his prize. “Hopefully this is the first of many big wins we have in store.”
