Domino effect for Brighton woman with $4.8 million Set for Life win
Hearing another division one winner’s story prompted a Brighton woman to purchase her first ticket into Set for Life – a ticket that has scored her $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
The Melburnian held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2492, drawn Thursday, 2 June 2022. She took home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
When we called the victorious Victorian this morning, she was patiently waiting by the phone to have her winning news confirmed.
“Oh my god! How fabulous!” she cheered.
“I can’t believe it. it’s life-changing!
“I missed your phone calls on Friday, so I didn’t check my ticket until the following morning. I was curious to know who was calling me!
“On Saturday, I checked the ticket near my children, and I yelled, ‘Oh my god! Oh my god!’.
“It’s funny. I saw that someone had won division one in Set for Life recently in an online story and I decided to give it a go and purchase a ticket. I never expected to win division one myself!
“We were absolutely stunned. It’s hard to comprehend.
“The past two years have been a rollercoaster with the pandemic and long lockdowns. It will be nice to look onto the future with a bit of ease.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her newfound fortune, the winner said she couldn’t wait to book an overseas holiday.
“Our family is overdue for a holiday, so maybe that’s the first thing we will do with our prize,” she shared.
“Otherwise, the world is our oyster!”
Her winning entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
