A Hobart mum has had a Christmas she’ll never forget after being given a TattsLotto ticket that turned her into an overnight millionaire.

The happy woman held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4115, drawn Saturday 26 December 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home $1,061,316.47.

Speaking with our team this morning, the overjoyed woman admitted she never purchased lottery tickets for herself, so the win was a great surprise.

“I am feeling a bit numb,” she laughed.

“I actually never buy TattsLotto tickets. I received this one as a gift for Christmas from my family.

“I probably haven’t bought a ticket in a decade! I didn’t even know how to check the ticket. I had to get my husband to check it for me.

“After a rather terrible year, it was a great way to end it. I am certainly going to have a great 2021 now.

“God, it was such a shock when I saw the prize come up. I couldn’t believe it.

“I’ve been very emotional ever since I found out about the win.

“I just never thought I’d be in this position. This is life-changing for me. I am so grateful!”

When asked how she intended to enjoy her million-dollar windfall, the overwhelmed woman said she’d been busy planning.

“I want to share some with my family, especially since they gave me the ticket,” she said.

“My kids will each get a decent sum so they can put some towards getting a home each.

“Hopefully, the rest I can use to retire! It certainly changes a lot for me.”

The winning entry was purchased at Glenorchy Central Newsagency, Shop 10, Glenorchy Central Shopping Centre, 2 Cooper Street, Glenorchy.

Glenorchy Central Newsagency owner Shirleen Wickham said she was ecstatic for her Boxing Day winner.

“We are all thrilled that we have helped change someone’s life. What better Christmas present could you get than $1 million?” she said.

“We have been sharing the news with all our customers that we sold the winning ticket. It has been really great to see how excited everyone has been.

“It has been an extremely challenging year for many people and it has been great to have something so positive to end the year.

“The newsagency has been very lucky and sold a $100,000 scratchie ticket when I first took over the business. Since then, we have sold two substantial division one prizes in Super 66, and a number of division two prizes.

“This is the first division one Tattslotto prize since I took over the business, so it is very special for me.

“On behalf of all of us at Glenorchy Central Newsagency, I would like to congratulate the winner. It is fantastic and we are all really thrilled for you.”
