A Melton mum, nicknamed ‘Mrs Fun’, has attributed her $660,000 TattsLotto win to the fortuitous charm of the newsagency owner, calling him 'Mr Lucky' for selling her the winning ticket.

The Melburnian held one of the eight division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4417, drawn Saturday 18 November 2023 and took home a total prize of $666,446.97.

The jubilant woman relayed how her winning discovery came about when we called to confirm her newfound fortune.

“How exciting!” she gasped.

“I was with my husband, son, and daughter-in-law yesterday morning and I decided to check my TattsLotto ticket - I thought I’d have a heart attack!

“I told them the good news and they didn’t believe me. My husband kept saying, ‘I don’t believe you! I don’t believe you!’.

“Honestly, he still doesn’t really believe it. But he’s sitting next to me right now, and I’m sure the news will sink in soon!

“I couldn’t have done it without Mr Lucky, the owner at Melton Lotto & TSG. Every time I see him, I call him Mr Lucky and he calls me Mrs Fun!

“It’s the only newsagency I buy my tickets from, and I’ve always said he will give me the winning ticket. He’s so nice - a very special person.

“I gave him a call after I found out I had won and I said, ‘Mr Lucky, I won! I won!’. We couldn’t believe it.

“And you wouldn’t believe it. My lucky number is number eight, and every time the number eight comes up I know I’ve got a chance.

“We’re so happy.”

With a windfall of more than $660,000 about to make her bank account blossom, the generous woman had a clear plan for how she would enjoy her prize.

“This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. We’re going to help my son with his mortgage and upgrade our cars,” she said.

“I’ve been eyeing off a Kia or Hyundai car and soon, I’ll be able to park it in my garage!

“This Christmas is going to be amazing.”

Her winning System 9 entry was purchased at Melton Lotto & TSG, 293 High Street, Melton.

Melton Lotto & TSG owner Phong Thai said he couldn’t believe his eyes when he found out his outlet had sold another division one winning entry.

“We did it again! Another division one winning entry sold at Melton Lotto & TSG and we’re absolutely over the moon for our division one winner,” he said.

“Our customers will be super pleased to hear another local customer has picked up another division one winning entry. They all call me ‘Mr Lucky’ and we’re really living up to the nickname!

“We’ve started hanging posters and balloons all over the store, as well as posting on social media and sharing the exciting news to all of our customers.

“It was only in late September that we sold a division one winning entry to a Melton man, and he took home $1.7 million in TattsLotto.
