A Sorell man has fulfilled a bittersweet dream this morning after discovering his Super 66 ticket, consisting of his late wife’s favourite numbers, delivered him a $85,000 win.

The Tasmanian held the only division one winning entry in Super 66, draw 4449, drawn Saturday 9 March 2024 and took home a total prize of $85,631.85.

The long-time player had just finished up at the doctor's when he received a winning phone call from us notifying him about his wondrous win.

“Thank you so much,” he laughed.

“That’s a nice win – wow!

“I’m in a bit of shock. I’m shaking!

"I just got back from the doctors. I rushed home and called my granddaughter to come help me.

“I usually check my tickets on the weekend and I didn’t realise I had won anything.

“These are my late wife’s numbers. I’m here with my granddaughter and she just reminded me that they’re her numbers. It’s a very special win, that’s for sure.

“I’ll keep the win hush-hush for a while.

“In the meantime, I’ll celebrate with my granddaughter, and we’ll have to go out for a nice dinner!”

His winning 1-game QuickPick was purchased at Sorell Lucky Agency, 31 Gordon Street, Sorell.
