“I rarely ever buy a ticket!”: Rosewood woman left shocked and shaken by $1.3 million Saturday Gold Lotto loot
A Rosewood woman has admitted she can’t wait to surprise her children and grandchildren with a beautiful meal and a cheque following her incredible $1.3 million Saturday Gold Lotto win.
The Queenslander held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4411, drawn Saturday 28 October 2023, and pocketed $1,311,960.34.
“Oh my god! It’s real, it’s real!” screamed the winning woman when we called to confirm her windfall.
“We’ve won the lottery!
“I rarely ever buy a ticket! Maybe five times a year do I decide to take a chance.
“I only bought this entry because I was rushing around to buy a family member a birthday card and thought, ‘why not?’.
“Honestly, this is life-changing.
“We called my kids last night to tell them and they still think I’m lying.”
When asked how she planned to spend her prize, the winning woman said she looked forward to giving her family a leg-up in life.
“We’ve retired and we’ve been very fortunate in life, so we’ll spread the wealth around our family,” she said.
“What I’d love to do is take them all out for an amazing meal and hand them cheques and just say, ‘off you go’.
“This is amazing. Thank you so much.”
Her winning entry was purchased at Rosewood Newsagency, 12 John Street, Rosewood.
Rosewood Newsagency manager Amy Wang said the team was over the moon for their winning customer.
“How amazing! This is the first time our store has sold a division one winning entry, and we couldn’t be happier for our first division one winning customer!” she said.
“We hope this is just the first of many wins to come!
“Congratulations to our winner and having it happen so close to Christmas will make for some incredible festivities.”
