An Innisfail couple have this morning received a dream-come-true phone call delivering the news they’re suddenly division one winners.

The Far North Queensland residents held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3981 on Saturday 14 September 2019, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $960,296.23. The pair’s division one winning entry also scored division three 18 times and division four 45 times, boosting their total win to $985,048.93.

We contacted the winners this morning to break the life-changing news.

“Oh thank you. That’s terrific!” the man laughed.

“We’ve been wondering all night about this.

“We came home last night and checked our ticket. We knew we had the six winning numbers but I just couldn’t believe that we’d won division one.

“We were really hoping that would be the case so this is just wonderful!

“We use the same special numbers every single week and on Saturday they certainly delivered!”

When asked how they planned to enjoy their welcomed windfall, the husband and wife said they need to take some time to get over the initial shock.

“I don’t know what we’re going to do now, which is a great problem to have!” he exclaimed.

“We’re just going to have to let the news sink in and then really have a good think about it.”

The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry at Larsen's News & Casket Agency, 60 Rankin Street, Innisfail.

Larsen’s News & Casket Agency manager Sirena Bandiera said it was the second division one winning entry the outlet had sold in five months.

“We’re certainly feeling like we’ve got a very special and lucky store here in Innisfail,” she said.

“We were so excited to discover we’d done it again!

“There’s such a buzz in the community when someone scores division one and it’s great to hear that the prize has gone to a local.

“Congratulations to them!”
