Bathurst man vows to stay true to himself after scoring $4.8 million in Set for Life
A Bathurst man has remained cool, calm and collected after discovering he scored $4.8 million in Set for Life declaring the life-changing win was “wonderful” but won’t change who he is.
The hard-working New South Welshman held the only division-one winning entry nationallyin Set for Life draw 3416, drawn Thursday 12 December 2024.
He can look forward to a total division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 for the next 20 years.
Initially unaware of his life-changing division one win, the victorious man missed multiple phone calls from us before finally checking his ticket.
“I’m very good. Thank you!” he laughed.
“Honestly, I’m pretty calm! I don’t think I’ll do anything to celebrate right away.
“I’m not sure what I’ll do with the prize yet. I’ll have a good think about it.
“One thing I do know is I’ll keep working.
“It’s funny when I went past the newsagency, I saw they had sold a winning Set for Life ticket, and I thought that could be me!
“I realised I had missed a couple of calls from an unknown number, and I thought that was odd.
“I finally checked my ticket and it’s great news.
“I had a nice syndicate win earlier this year so I’m pretty happy. I’m feeling lucky.
“It’s certainly wonderful, but it won’t change me as a person!”
The winning 5-game QuickPick entry was purchased from News N More Bathurst, Shop 20, Bathurst City Centre, 46 - 52 William Street, Bathurst.
News N More Bathurst owner Mark McManus said he and the team were thrilled to sell a division one winning entry in Set for Life.
“What fantastic news and what great timing, right on Christmas!” he said.
“We’ve sold a few nice prizes here in the past, but this win, $20,000 a month for 20 years, equating to $4.8 million, surpasses anything we have sold before!
“We’d like to congratulate our winner, and we look forward to selling our next big win, hopefully in the coming draws!”
