We’ve already created one Powerball multi-millionaire this year, and with the jackpot soaring to a huge $40 million this week we are eagerly waiting to see if we’ll be doing it again on Thursday night!

We’re excited and ready — are you?

Here’s three things you can do to make sure you’re prepared for this week’s $40 million Powerball draw.

1. Be in it for the chance to win it
It may be obvious, but the number one thing you can do to get ready for the draw is to grab an entry.

There’s a number of different entry types to choose from. A Marked entry lets you select your own favourite numbers, while a QuickPick will randomly generate your numbers for you.

Powerball also offers a special PowerHit entry, which guarantees you the all-important Powerball number needed to win division one. In last week’s draw, there were 7 division two winning entries that just needed that one Powerball number to take out the jackpot. We wonder if we’ll see a PowerHit entry secure someone division one this week!

2. Register your entry
This is a great step to take for any draw but it’s an especially good idea ahead of Thursday night’s $40 million jackpot.
Registering your entry is easy.

For in-store purchases, use your player card and any entries will be automatically registered to you. If you purchase online or via the Lott app, make sure your account details are up to date and you’re all set!

Don’t have an online account or player card? You can join today to access bonus draws and keep all your entries secure— plus we’ll be able to let you know if you win!

The best part is, it’s free to join (excluding SA). Find out more here.

3. Keep your phone close
Once the numbers have been drawn, we’ll be eagerly waiting to see if we need to make a life changing call to any division one winners.

The last time we had a $40 million division one Powerball winner, we were thrilled when a Cairns healthcare worker answered our call to the news that he was now a multi-millionaire.

He said his beloved cat was the one to thank for alerting him to our attempts to reach him.

“When the phone rang, my cat ran over to the phone. She never does that. I was really surprised. That’s why I answered the phone,” he told us.

“It’s amazing. You dream about these things but when it happens you don’t believe it.

“It’s still very hard to accept, but you’ve rung me now so it must be true!”

Only time will tell if we’ll be calling a new $40 million jackpot winner following this week’s draw so keep your phone close!

The draw closes 7:30pm, AEST, Thursday 12 March 2020.
