From 9-to-5 hustle to multi-million-dollar hullabaloo: Kangy Angy dad eyes retirement with $12 million Powerball win
A dad from Kangy Angy is planning to swap the hustle and bustle of work for a life of leisure after landing a phenomenal $12 million win in last night’s Powerball draw.
The Central Coast resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1481, drawn Thursday 3 October 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $12,418,438.85.
So far in 2024, the Hunter and Central Coast regions of New South Wales have recorded 25 major lottery wins, with winners collectively taking home over $124.04 million in prize money.
The cheerful man admittedly had no idea he had become an overnight multi-millionaire as he had been too busy at work this morning to notice the multiple missed calls from us trying to alert him to his good fortune.
“It’s a bit of a shock,” he laughed.
“Wow! I haven’t had a chance to process this news.
“I was going about my day, and I noticed I had multiple missed calls on my work phone. I didn’t think much of it because my phone usually goes crazy on a Friday.
“I just thought I’d ring everyone back a bit later, but then I went onto my emails and saw that someone from The Lott was trying to get in touch with me, which turned out to be you!
“I called The Lott straight away, and here we are. It’s so surreal.
“I’ve always been too lazy to pick my own lottery numbers, so I always go for a QuickPick. I guess these are my lucky numbers now that I’ll cherish for a long time!
“This will help me retire earlier than expected, and I can start to wind down.
“It’s so exciting.”
When asked how he intended to celebrate his newfound multi-millionaire status, the winning man revealed that he had a dinner planned with his beloved wife and was eager to share the life-changing news with her over a special meal.
“I’m actually taking my wife out for dinner tonight. We’re going to a fancy restaurant, and it’s perfect timing!” he exclaimed.
“She will be over the moon about the news.”
His winning 50-game QuickPick was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
