“I haven’t slept a wink!”: Truganina woman left tossing and turning over $20 million Powerball win
A Truganina woman has confessed she only slept for 40 minutes last night after discovering her phenomenal $20 million Powerball win right before bedtime.
The Melburnian grandmother held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1369, drawn Thursday 11 August 2022.
The tired but ecstatic winner checked her ticket before bed last night and was left shocked by the revelation she was now a multi-millionaire.
“Oh, my goodness! I haven’t slept a wink!” she laughed when talking with us this morning.
“I only got about 40 minutes sleep last night. I’m so tired, but it’s worth it.
“I was sitting in the lounge room, and I checked the winning numbers before going to bed, and I didn’t believe it!
“I couldn’t get out of the chair. I couldn’t go to the toilet. I couldn’t move. It was so surreal.
“My husband didn’t believe the winning news, and he jokingly said to me, ‘Oh, don’t be stupid!’. But then he just said to me, ‘Oh wow, it’s real?!’.
“When I purchased the ticket, my husband and daughter were with me, and I told them that I’d put a ticket on for Powerball, and my husband said to me, ‘Don’t bother, we’re never going to win!’.
“I guess I’ve proved him wrong!
“I decided to mix things up, and instead of putting my usual three to four games on, I decided to get a Powerhit consisting of special numbers that mean the most to me.
“I’ve never expected to win anything big. I usually land three numbers, but never anything more!
“This is truly amazing!”
With a multi-million-dollar prize about to land in her bank account, the victorious Victorian shared she couldn’t wait to use some of the prize to enjoy an Australian odyssey with her family.
“We would love to travel around Australia via train. All the sightseeing we would do is getting me excited!” she said.
“We would also love to help our children and grandchildren. We might help them all buy a house!”
Her winning marked Powerhit entry was purchased at Wyndham Village Lotto & News, Shop 39, Wyndham Village Shopping Centre, 380 Sayers Road, Tarneit.
Wyndham Village Lotto & News owner Mahesh Thakur said the team was ecstatic to have sold such a massive division one winning entry.
“It’s truly a special day for us, and we’re absolutely over the moon!” he said.
“When we found out the news last night, we couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t sleep either!
“We’ve sold division one winning entries in all other lottery games, except for Powerball. It’s been a long time coming, and now we have a full set of division one wins!
“Congratulations to our division one winner! We wish you all the best with your future endeavours.”
