A woman from Para Vista is planning an early retirement after discovering her bank account will be bolstered by $20,000 a month for 20 years after winning Set for Life. 

The woman was the second Set for Life winner to claim a First Prize in just five days, and the only winner nationally in Set for Life draw 887 drawn 9 January 2018.  

When speaking with a SA Lotteries official to confirm her win, the woman couldn’t contain her disbelief. 

“Wow! Oh my god! That’s unreal!” she exclaimed. 

“I’m a bit speechless actually! Believe me, I think I’m still in shock!” 

“I’ve been playing Set for Life since it came out. I’ve been playing other lotto games for about thirty years and I’ve never won. 

“Set for Life interested me from when it started and I just thought I’d give it a go. I didn’t think anything of it! I never check my ticket! 

“I thought it wasn’t worth checking them because I would get a phone call, and now I’ve had one it’s amazing!” 

When asked how the $20,000 a month for 20 years would enhance her life she admitted it would take her awhile to process what she could do. 

“We’ll definitely upgrade the car, we’ve been thinking about that for a while so we can do it now!” she said. 

“Retirement is an option now, I don’t know! I could retire! Yes! 

“I won’t have to rely on any other payments now which is even better! 

“You know what I still can’t get my head around it! - It’s just a bit unbelievable you know! 

“I might just go home from work now!” 

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her 5-set QuickPick entry from Ingle Farm Lotteries Kiosk, Kiosk 4, Ingle Farm Shopping Centre, Montague Road, Ingle Farm. 

Kath Venables, from Ingle Farm Lotteries Kiosk, said the outlet was thrilled to have sold their first Set for Life First Prize. 

“We were very pleased to discover we had sold the winning entry!” she exclaimed. 

“We’ve had a few winners over the years but not for a little while and this is our first Set for Life win which is just great! 

“It is just fantastic news that a local to the area and a regular customer has won. 

“We wish them all the best with this amazing prize!” 

Across the country, the South Australian winner held the only entry that won First Prize in Set for Life draw 887 on Tuesday 9 January 2018, which offers a guaranteed First Prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years for up to four winners in each draw.   

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 887 were 32, 3, 16, 21, 35, 13, 28 and 27, with the bonus numbers 26 and 8. 

The South Australian winner is the 30th Set for Life First Prize winner nationally since the game began and the second Set for Life First Prize winner during the past five days. 

During the 2017 calendar year, there were 12 Set for Life First Prize winners across Australia who will receive $57.6 million during the next 20 years.
