Celebrate Set for Life’s fifth birthday with five winning facts that take the cake!
G’day mates, Doug here with a special Set for Life update.
It’s the 15th of the month, which of course means it’s $20K Day — the day when we celebrate all our Set for Life division one winners receiving their monthly prize payment of $20,000!
But this month we have an extra cause to celebrate, as we mark an exciting occasion. It’s our fifth birthday!
For half a decade, there’s been screams of delight, tears of joy, and hundreds of prize payments and we can’t wait for more to come. In the meantime, I’m excited to share with you my five favourite winning facts to celebrate five years of Set for Life.
Check them out below!
1. 63 Aussies have won division one in Set for Life and collectively taken home $302,400,000 in prize money.
Since August 2015, Set for Life has crowned 63 division one winners across Australia. That’s almost enough winners that we could form six soccer teams! Or three-and-a-half AFL teams! You can choose the sport— the point is — that’s a lot of winners who are Set for Life!
Collectively they’ve taken home over $302 million in prize money, and with each winner receiving their prize for twenty years, that number is only going up from here.
2. In just five months, 89 winners across Australia have scored division two and have $5K coming their way every month for a year!
One of my favourite things about Set for Life is that it’s the only Australian Lottery game where you can win an ongoing monthly prize. We know it’s also a favourite feature for many of you!
That’s why we were so excited to announce a shiny new division two prize, offering the chance to win $5,000 every month for a year. Since it was first introduced in March this year, we’ve already seen 89 stoked players score division two and collectively take home $4,920,000 in prize money.
3. Our very first Set for Life division one winner will still be celebrating winning $20K on Replay until 2035! And our most recent winners will be receiving prize money until 2040!
It was only three days after our inaugural draw when a Wollongong player made Australian lottery history as the very first Set for Life First Prize winner. The New South Wales man has since received $1.2 million in prize money, with 15 years of receiving $20K on Replay still ahead of him.
Yes, he’ll be celebrating $20K Day right up until the year 2035. And our division one winners from this year will still be receiving their prize money in 2040!
We can only imagine what it will be like to be Set for Life that far into the future. Maybe they’ll be among the first to splurge on a hover-car!
4. New South Wales is home to the most Set for Life winners, but Victoria and Queensland are coming in hot!
While we never know where our next Set for Life division one win will land, in the last five years we’ve had plenty of opportunities to break the life-changing news to a number of thrilled New South Welshmen.
The state is home to 25% of all our division one winners. However, with winners from Queensland and Victoria each comprising 24% of our Set for Life family, perhaps that lead will be short-lived!
The rest of our division one winners are spread across the country; 17% are from Western Australia; 8% are from South Australia; 1.5% hail from the Northern Territory, and we’re still eagerly waiting for Tasmania and the ACT to crown their first ever Set for Life division one winner.
5. Sunday is the day of the week that the most division one winners have become Set for Life
Sunday nights might have many Aussies dreading the approach of another working week, but for some, it’s proven to be the best day of their lives. More than a quarter of all our Set for Life division one winners scored their life-changing win on a Sunday night draw!
One of our recent smiling Sunday winners was a young dad from Adelaide who hadn’t slept a wink after he discovered his win.
“I checked my online account last night and saw I had won. I woke up my wife to tell her and she screamed,” he told us. “This gives us complete financial freedom. The possibilities are endless with this prize. This is a great feeling to have. I couldn’t be happier!
“What can’t you do with this prize is the question!”
With draws taking place every night of the week, maybe that’s a question you’ll be asking yourself soon. We’ve got five years behind us, but many more ahead and we can’t wait to meet our next winners!
