A Kilsyth man confessed he ‘can’t stop shaking’ after this morning discovering he is Set for Life from winning the coveted First Prize of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
 
The man held the only First Prize winning entry in Set for Life draw 1077 drawn on Wednesday 18 July 2018, and is the second person to win Set for Life in seven days.
 
When a Tatts official made contact with the man to confirm his this morning, he was relaxing at home with his son, oblivious to his good fortune.
 
“You are kidding me, oh wow,” he exclaimed.
 
“I thought you were calling to tell me I had won some small prize.
 
“I am speechless, absolutely speechless. This is amazing!
 
“I am actually starting to shiver. Shaking, just shaking like crazy.
 
“This is life enhancing, life changing for me, for sure.
 
“I can’t wait to tell all my family and go out to celebrate tonight.”
 
The Kilsyth man explained he had been playing Set for Life since the game first began in 2015.
 
“I have been playing this game for a while, since the game began actually,” he said.
 
“I really enjoy it, so I have chosen to stick with it and I am glad I did.

“The numbers I used were very special to me – birthdates and other significant dates – so I am happy they have delivered me a win.”
 
When asked how the over-the-moon winner planned to spend his Set for Life First Prize, he confessed that while he still needed time to think about it, he had some initial plans for his windfall.
 
“God, I am not really sure. I never thought I would win, but now I have, so this is surreal,” he explained.
 
“I will definitely help out my family, renovate my place and possibly get a new car.
 
“I would also love to go on a few trips. Vietnam is at the top of my list.

“But guess who can retire in a few months?! It’s me! I am going to retire!


“This is going to make my retirement more comfortable and life will be even better than it already is.
 
“I can’t wait for payday each month – thank you, thank you, thank you.”
 
It’s been a winning year for Set for Life players, with 13 First Prizes won across Australia since the start of the year. There have been 41 First Prize winners nationally since the game began.
 
The Kilsyth man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked 2-SET entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
 
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 1077 were 24, 13, 28, 2, 18, 4, 6 and 23, with the bonus numbers 12 and 5.
 
Last financial year, there were 16 Set for Life First Prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who will receive $76.8 million during the next 20 years.
