Stafford Set for Life winner still in shock!
A Stafford woman is still reeling from the shock of discovering she has won First Prize in Set for Life and will now receive $20,000 a month for the next two decades.
The Stafford entry was the only First Prize winning entry in Set for Life draw 890 on Friday 12 January 2018 and was one of three winning entries, two from Brisbane, who won the Set for Life First Prize during the past seven days.
Speaking to a Golden Casket official this morning to confirm the win, the happy winner couldn’t contain her shock at discovering she was now Set for Life.
“No way!? Oh my god! Are you serious? 20,000 a month for 20 years? I’ve won Set for Life! I’ve won! I can’t believe it!” she exclaimed while her family celebrated in the background upon hearing her excitement.
“I think I’m going to have a heart attack, you have no idea what that’s done, you’ve got no idea!
“I’ve got to let it sink in. When you said you were from Golden Casket I told myself not to get too excited, but oh my god! I’ve won!
“This is the best news I’ve ever had, its life-changing! All the family are in tears! It’s amazing! Thank you so much!”
The thrilled woman explained that although she had played lottery games for a while, she was a new Set for Life player.
“A friend of mine put me onto it about two months ago, she told me I should just put a Set for Life in for the week and then forget about it and that’s what I’ve been doing,” she shared.
“I used to just throw a random QuickPick on but half the time I’d forget but now I can put it on for a week and not worry about it.
“I never check my tickets, but I had it ready to take with me today so I could check when I went to work!”
The ecstatic woman also revealed she had been told there was a winner in the area but didn’t think it was her.
“The funny thing was, a friend of mine who I work with heard that it was sold at Stafford City and she rang me, and joked that I’d won lotto but hadn’t told her!” she laughed.
When asked how the over-the-moon winner planned to spend her monthly $20,000 windfall she confessed she still had to think about it.
“I’m going to have to let it sink in! I still can’t believe it. But oh my god yes! Holidays will be planned! I have no idea where though, I’m just going to let it sink in.
“Definitely retirement! Hell yes! I’ll definitely be doing that. It has just come at a fantastic time – you have no idea!”
The Stafford woman is one of the seven First Prize wins to land in Queensland during the past six months, and one of the 33 First Prize winners nationally since the game began.
The winning entry was purchased at Stafford City Newsagency, Shop 78, Stafford City Shopping Centre, 400 Stafford Rd, Stafford.
Stafford City Newsagency owner, Huy Nguyen, said he was exciting to have sold a Set for Life First prize.
“We’ve sold a couple of division one winning entries but this is our first Set for Life First Prize!” he exclaimed.
“We’ve put decorations up and we are letting all of our customers know our store has sold a winner.
“It has been a busy few days at our store with many of our customers excited to see if they were the winner. They were all so happy it had been sold in the area.
“We are so happy a regular customer has won, we wish them all the best with their prize!”
