“It’s spooky!”: Port Adelaide woman “accidentally” buys winning Set for Life ticket
A Port Adelaide woman is thanking a happy mistake for the Set for Life entry that scored her $20,000 a month for 20 years in last night’s draw.
The South Australian winner held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2401, drawn Thursday 3 March 2022. She takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
This morning, we reached out to the winning woman, who admitted she thought her eyes were deceiving her when she discovered the win.
“I’m gobsmacked,” she giggled.
“It was early in the morning when I checked this ticket, so it was very dark still. I’d made my coffee, gone outside to sit on the veranda and listen to the birds, and then I checked my ticket.
“Because it was so dark, I wasn’t sure if I saw things wrong when I checked the ticket. I probably checked it 10 times before I started to believe it was true. It was spooky!
“I usually buy a standard two-game entry, but when I purchased this ticket, the guy didn’t hear me correctly, and he gave me three games instead.
“The third game is the one that won this prize for me, so it feels like it was meant to be! It wouldn’t have happened otherwise.
“I’m going to go down to the newsagency and give the staff something to say thanks for helping me win division one.
“I’ve always dreamed of winning, but I can’t believe it’s happened. I think Set for Life is the best. I love how the prize is paid in instalments – it makes each month exciting!
“I’m going to use this prize to renovate my house completely. It’ll feel like a new home when It’s done! I’d love to get an interior designer in to make it special.
“Then I’d like to use the rest to help people – my family, friends and charities that mean something to me. I believe you need to give back, so that’s at the top of the list.
“I wouldn’t mind taking some time off and going on a big beach holiday for a few months. I’d love to relax and enjoy nature.
“I’ll call my best friend this morning, and maybe we can do some celebrating today.”
Her winning 3-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Plympton Newsagency & LPO, 392A Marion Road, Plympton.
The Plympton Newsagency & LPO team are thrilled for their winner and wish her all the best with her prize.
