A Townsville mum was over the moon when she thought she’d won $10,000 on the first Instant Scratch-Its ticket she’d ever bought… but then she realised she’d actually scratched a $100,000 prize. 

The top prize winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at The Lucky Charm Hyde Park, Shop 77B, Castletown Shopping World, 35 Kings Road, Hyde Park. 

“It’s just crazy!” the North Queenslander declared when claiming her prize from The Lott. 

“At first, I thought I’d just won $12, but then I thought it was $10,000, but then it was $100,000! The prize just kept growing… or so we thought. We just kept checking and double-checking. 

“Even now, I didn’t believe it was really $100,000 until you confirmed it. 

“It’s actually the first time I’ve bought an Instant Scratch-Its too. I just thought I’d give it a go.” 

When asked how she might enjoy $100,000, the Townsville resident revealed the timing of her win was perfect. 

“This has been a very nice Christmas present,” she said. 

“We’ve got a small business, so this will help out a lot. It just makes things easier. 

“It’s really going to make for a great new year.”
