A Devonport grandfather can now say he knows the meaning of a ‘gift that keeps on giving’ after receiving an Instant Scratch-Its ticket that bagged him $10,000 for his birthday.

The $5 Cash Path Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Centre Newsagency & Lotto, Woolworths Arcade, 74 Best Street, Devonport.

“It was fantastic!” the winning grandad cheered when we confirmed his windfall.

“Our granddaughter purchased the ticket in a gift pack for me for my birthday!

“There were a few Instant Scratch-Its in the gift-pack, so when I was all scratched-out I handed them to my wife to finish the rest!

“My wife scratched away, and she told me that we won $25 and then she told me we won $10,000!

“I didn’t believe her! I had to ask if it was real a few times. Once I knew, I quickly put it away in my secret hiding spot.

“I took the kids out for lunch to celebrate!

“I think I might share some of this prize with my granddaughter!

“The rest will help with renovations and a holiday! I need to get to Queensland. The sun is up there!

“Thank you so much!”
