A grandfather’s blessing! Eastwood man stunned by $250,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize that continues family’s winning streak
An Eastwood man has revealed he felt like his late grandfather was looking down on him after his Instant Scratch-Its ticket landed him a $250,000 win not long after his father scored a $25,000 prize.
The $10 Kings Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra Westpoint, Shop 3059, 17 Patrick Street, Blacktown.
The New South Wales resident relayed how his winning discovery came about when we reached out to him.
“My grandfather passed away a few months ago. Whenever he had a spare coin, he liked to buy an Instant Scratch-Its ticket,” he said.
“After he passed, my dad and I decided to buy some. We got six and split them in half. I got three, he got three.
“I scratch mine, and my dad says, ‘Come here. How do you win?’. I looked at his ticket and I saw ‘$25,000, $25,000, $25,000’.
“We knew it was a blessing from my grandfather straight away!
“Since then, we like to play every now and then when we catch up. I saw him last weekend and got a couple.
“It was more of a tradition thing; I didn’t think I was going to win.
“Nothing was coming up on the first few tickets, but on the last ticket, on the very last panel, I scratched ‘$250,000, $250,000, $250,000’.
“I just couldn’t comprehend it. I’m pinching myself, slapping myself in the face. After five seconds, I just started jumping up and down!
“I still wasn’t sure that this was one hundred percent true but when I took it to the lottery counter, I knew I had won because the same thing happened when my father won.
“Instead of making a sound, the machine started printing the receipt.
“I just couldn’t believe it. I had butterflies, not even in my stomach, just all over.
“It’s crazy to me. It’s just life changing.
“I’m going to enjoy the prize but be smart with it – invest it, you know and hopefully set myself up nicely for a secure future.”
The Nextra Westpoint team said they were over the moon for their winning customer and wished him all the best with his prize.
