This week marks the 20th anniversary of Day for Daniel, Australia's largest child safety education and awareness day. We’re encouraging you to show your support by participating.

Day for Daniel is held annually on the last Friday of October and honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe – a 13-year-old boy whose life was taken when he was abducted from a Sunshine Coast bus stop.

The day kicks off with the Walk for Daniel, where supporters from across the state visit the Sunshine Coast and come together to walk the 4km route that Daniel was unable to complete himself.

Since 2019, The Lott by Golden Casket has been a proud supporter of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, and as we look towards the 20th Anniversary of the Day of Daniel this Friday, we are on a mission to help make it the most impactful one yet.

Here’s how to get involved in Day for Daniel and support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation's mission, keeping kids safe:

1. Wear red

On Day for Daniel, everyone is encouraged to wear red - the colour Daniel wore when he went missing. The colour now represents child safety and the Foundation and is a way to help remember Daniel.

2. Educate

Day for Daniel is a reminder to start or continue conversations about safety with children. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation website offers plenty of free child safety educational resources that can empower parents, carers, and educators to teach children how to stay safe.

3. Donate

Since 2019, we’ve donated yearly to help the Daniel Morcombe Foundation continue its vital work in educating children about the importance of safety. You can also support the Foundation by making a donation or starting a fundraiser. Donations help the Foundation to continue to develop and provide free child safety resources to parents, caregivers, and educators and assist young victims of crime.

4. Join the Walk for Daniel on the Sunshine Coast

This year marks the 20th Walk for Daniel, which kicks of Australias largest child safety awareness day, the Day for Daniel. Thousands of kids, parents, grandparents and four legged friends are already registered for the walk, including some of our incredible retailers and staff. Here are the details below if you’d like to join the walk too.
