A Burnside man is thanking his last-minute decision to purchase a different Instant Scratch-Its ticket to one he originally wanted after scratching a $100,000 top prize win.

The South Australian’s $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Firle Newsagency, Shop 7, 193 Glynburn Road, Firle.

“It’s quite a funny story, actually!” the winning man exclaimed when speaking with us.

“You know, I don’t really purchase Instant Scratch-Its very often.

“I usually buy a couple of $10 Instant Scratch-Its for my wife if we have a smaller win on a lottery.

“This time, the person behind the counter gave me a different kind by mistake, and when they asked me if I wanted to swap them out for the ones I initially wanted, I decided not to.

“Good thing I didn’t because we won the top prize off it!

“I was having a little nap on the lounge while my wife was scratching the Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“My wife woke me up yelling, ‘Guess what?!’ The ticket you bought me won $10,000!’

“Then my adult daughter corrected her, ‘No mum, it’s $100,000!”

“When I heard that, I sat up and jokingly said, ‘In that case, that must be my ticket.’

“We were in shock.

“The best part is, even after all that, I was still a bit unsure of the amount.

‘I just kept the ticket in the glove box of my car until I claimed it.

“I know we’re going to share this win with our family, maybe go on a holiday with our adult children.

“My wife and I have already been to dinner to celebrate.

His $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Firle Newsagency, Shop 7, 193 Glynburn Road, Firle.
